January 10, 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
In Knitting 101 students will learn the knit cast-on and long-tail cast-on methods, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, and basic bind-off. Depending on time, the rib or seed stitches also will be presented. Each student will have at least two finished swatches by the end of class. This class will require 1 ball of smooth yarn in bulky weight, 1 set corresponding straight needles, and snips. All supplies can be found locally, students will get a full list of suppliers and workshop handout upon registration.
Courtney Spainhower of Pink Brutus Knits is one of our fav knitwear designers here at Homespun: Modern Handmade. In the past five years she went from knitting under the moniker Lucy and the Bird, and churning out adorable bow ties, booties and shawls, to having her designs grace the covers and pages of Interweave Knits, Knitscene, Zealana and Creative Knitting. She has also contributed to the book Handmade for Baby (due to release Spring 2015) and so much more in-between.
Courtney is a regular contributor on Ravelry, makes a mean cocktail, grows a wicked garden, chugs coffee, loves all creatures and is an all around crafty wife and mother of two. She will be teaching a few exclusive workshops for us so be sure to find the one that is perfectly stitched for you!
