Workshop: Textile Design: European Knit n’ Sip
December 5, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
In this single session workshop, students will learn how to knit the Continental way. It is a faster method of knitting, a more efficient movement of the wrist mostly used in Europe. The most noted benefit to Continental knitting is the speed and ease of execution. Students will learn basic knitting terminology, how to cast on, how to create a knit stitch, how to create a purl stitch and how to bind off. Two projects, a headband or a mug cozy, will be presented while you knit n’ sip. All supplies and pattern are included. Students are asked along a beverage to sip.
The instructor, Irmgard Burford began creating textiles from a very early age. Her German mother, a seamstress, instilled an interest in fabrics and yarns in Irmi when she was just a tot. Irmi has a custom curtain business, enjoys being creative, loves playing with her grandkids, and getting out of dodge during the winter months! She offers some of her knit products at Homespun: Modern Handmade under the name Die Schneiderin (meaning the seamstress in German).
Please be sure to register at least 48 hours in advance, as the workshop needs a minimum number of attendees to run. If the minimum is not reached tickets will NOT be sold at the door.
