First Friday featuring the Center for Inquiry School 2 Art Club

September 1 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Here at Homespun, we’re passionate about supporting creative minds, especially the creative, young minds of our local community. We invite you to come celebrate a truly unique First Friday show featuring the Art Club of local Indianapolis Public School, Center for Inquiry School 2!

This First Friday reception will feature special Indianapolis related projects made just for this exhibition in store. We’ll have a full reception spread with treats and libations for parents and families of these talented students! We look forward to seeing you on Friday, September 1st from 6pm – 8pm in store! All the proceeds of this First Friday gallery show will go back to supporting the Art Club at CFI 2.

Established in 2001, the CFI 2 Art Club’s focus is placed on building relationships, knowledge, and skills.  The club meets once a week with a mission to explore, discover, create, and serve. Every three years they go on a trip and in the past these trips have included destinations like London, New Mexico, San Francisco, North Carolina, and Georgia. They do many fundraising events, and each student is responsible for raising their own money for these trips.  The club is led by Visual Art Instructors Daphne Draa (2016 recipient of the Hubbard Life Changing Teacher Award), Erin Ream, and Brittany Fike.

Center for Inquiry School opened as a magnet program in 1993 from a collaborative effort between a group of IPS teachers and faculty at the IUPUI School of Education.  The teachers and professors obtained a grant to spend time over two years learning about holistic inquiry-based teaching and critical literacy. The Center for Inquiry Schools follow the International Baccalaureate Organization model which promotes intercultural understanding and respect, not as an alternative to a sense of cultural and national identity, but as an essential part of life in the 21st century. The Center for Inquiry Program has now evolved into four campuses, with over 160 staff members, serving over 1,400 children in grades K-8!
